French living in Japan: My Top 3 Convenience Stores

Living Japan

As a French person living in Japan, I often get asked which convenience store I like the most.
In France, we do not have anything similar to Japanese konbini, so the first time I visited one, I was honestly amazed.

After living here for a while, I now have my own favorites.
Here is my Top 3 Convenience Stores in Japan, based on my daily life.

フランス人おすすめのコンビニをランキングしました!

FamilyMart(ファミリーマート)

FamilyMart feels the most balanced to me.
The hot snacks are surprisingly good, especially Famichiki.
I also like their sweets section it is quite impressive for a convenience store.

7-Eleven(セブンイレブン)

7-Eleven has the best onigiri, without any doubt.
The quality is very consistent, and the sandwiches are also nice.
I often stop by on my way to work.

Lawson(ローソン)

Lawson feels a bit more stylish.
Their Uchi Café sweets are very good, and I like the atmosphere of the stores.

For Travelers & New Residents in Japan

If you are visiting Japan or just moved here,
these are the activities my French friends always recommend:

  • Tokyo Skytree Ticket(KKday
  • TeamLab Planets(KKday
  • Asakusa Kimono Rental(KKday
  • Mt. Fuji Day Tour(KKday

I always book through KKday/Klook because it’s cheaper and easy to use.

Conclusion

For me, FamilyMart is clearly number one.
Each konbini has its own charm, but FamilyMart is the one I visit the most in my daily life.

I will also share more rankings such as:

  • Best Japanese snacks for French people
  • Things that surprised me in Japan
  • My favorite Japanese drinks
  • Convenience store must-buy items

Japan continues to surprise me every day.
