One of the best things about living in Japan is discovering all the unique snacks.
Japan has an incredible variety sweet, salty, crunchy, seasonal, and sometimes surprising.

After trying many snacks over the years, here are my personal Top 5 Japanese snacks that I always buy for myself… and for my family in France.
These are perfect for souvenirs too.

じゃがりこ(Jagarico)

Jagarico is my absolute favorite Japanese snack.
Crispy, salty, and addictive — I always finish the cup too fast.
The salad flavor is my top choice, but cheese is also great.

キットカット(日本限定フレーバー)

Japan has so many KitKat flavors matcha, strawberry, sakura, sweet potato…
I always buy seasonal ones.
These are the snacks my family in France loves the most.

Black Thunder is cheap, crunchy, and delicious.
It tastes like a mix of chocolate and cookies.
I often buy a bunch and keep them at home.
